Pain Level: While some discomfort is normal, most clients find the sensation manageable. It’s often described as a rubber band snapping against your skin, but don't worry—our cooling device will help keep you comfortable throughout the session.

How Many Laser Tattoo Removal Treatments Does it Take?

 Professional tattoos usually take from six to over 15 treatments, while amateur tattoos require four or more sessions due to the different composition of inks. Treatments are spaced approximately six to twelve weeks apart. The number of treatments depends on the quality and depth of your tattoo application, the type of ink used in your tattoo, the color used and the length of time between each treatment. With the use of a pico laser, our laser technicians often achieve greater than 95 percent fading. Your tattoo will continue to fade for up to 5 years after your treatment. The longer you wait between treatments the fewer treatments it will take to remove your tattoo.


Cosmetic tattoo ink, typically the lighter ink colors, may contain ferric oxide that can permanently turn black when exposed to Q-switched laser pulses. The color changes are probably due to reduction of rust-colored ferric oxide to jet black ferrous oxide and from white Ti4+ to blue Ti3+. Further treatment often removes the ink, but permanent darkening of the ink is a possibility. Titanium dioxide ink content is associated with poor results.


Difficult colors are yellow, green and blue. Red and black are the easiest colors to remove.

If you have recently tanned, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a history of keloid scarring, experienced an allergic reaction to tattoo ink in the past, or have known adverse reactions to laser tattoo removal patients are advised to refrain from the procedure.  The laser tattoo removal process is a gradual process that takes a series of treatments. Generally, black ink is quicker to remove than pastels or bold colors. Each color absorbs a given wavelength differently. The volume and quality of ink used by your tattoo artist also matter, as does the tattoo’s age and depth. Our licensed Electrologist/Laser & Light-Based Technician will consider these factors when estimating the number of sessions to fade or eliminate unwanted body art. Additionally, we provide the Zimmer chiller for pain relief and skin treatment, reducing treatment waiting times and minimizing the likelihood of reactions. Protective eyewear will be supplied to safeguard your eyes from the laser beam.


The laser device will be skillfully maneuvered over your skin, pulsing over the tattoo in small sections. With each pulse, you may experience a quick zap of warmth or a sensation similar to a rubber band snap. The duration of the process depends on the size of your tattoo, ranging from a few minutes to an hour or more. What is Laser Tattoo Removal?  

Laser tattoo removal is a noninvasive procedure that uses high powered laser light technology to penetrate deep into the skin and break down the pigment colors of trapped ink particles. Laser tattoo removal is considered the safest, most effective tool to remove unwanted tattoos.


What Laser Do We Use For Tattoo Removal?
Our laser features extremely short and high-power picosecond laser pulses, which efficiently and quickly break down the ink particles in tattoos. A picosecond is one-trillionth of a second and is 1,000 times shorter than the nanosecond pulses lasers currently utilize for tattoo removal. Picosecond laser pulses are clinically proven to remove tattoos more completely and in fewer treatment sessions than traditional laser methods.


Why Are Multiple Visits Required For Tattoo Removal?
Tattoo ink is deposited deep into the skin. In order to reach all of the ink, multiple treatment sessions are needed for clearance. The depth, size, and color of the tattoo will also affect the number of treatments needed.

Will My Tattoo Completely Disappear?

What Does the Procedure Feel Like?
Laser tattoo removal is generally reported to have a similar feeling to first receiving your tattoo. Some patients compare our tattoo removal to a rubber band being snapped against their skin. Topical anesthetics are always available to minimize any discomfort. Post-tattoo removal care often requires a bandage to be worn for 7-10 days and the skin will be red and irritated, again, similar to the process that occurred when first getting the tattoo.
